Dear Senior voter,

Many Americans a mite younger than you have always looked to your example when making important decisions, like choosing a president.  As someone who spent a good portion of her youth working in nursing homes, caring for the elderly, I know for a fact that older Americans are a veritable treasure trove of knowledge and history.  So will you please stop losing your damn minds over the same stale, old, wedge issues trotted out at election time: abortion, contraception and gay marriage! Virginian women’s rights undermined, or, Virginia, on my mind (and in other places!)

Aside from a bill that defines personhood at conception and bans some methods of contraception(very close in tone to the recent bill passed by the Oklahoma Senate), the Virginia House of Delegates also passed a preliminary measure, sponsored by Republican Delegate Kathy J. Byron, requiring a woman to receive an ultrasound before having an abortion.  Continue reading →
