Women still constitute over half of the US population. And we do vote. So, when you consider the flurry of ‘Personhood’ bills popping up in southern states, coupled with all the Pro-life rhetoric disguised as conservatism spouted by GOP candidates, one has to wonder….. How the hell does the GOP figure all these crazy anti-abortion bills and anti-female, ultra religious attempts to block access to birth control are going to help them win the 2012 Presidential race? Sure, the Republican anti-abortion, anti birth control fervor has distracted the public from an improving economy, which was boosting the President’s approval ratings a great deal. In stark contrast, the sex-for-fun hating, sweater vested Rick Santorum seems woefully out of touch with the realities of the world modern women live in today. Seems a lot of effort for very little gain. The Rick Santorum surge in the race for Republican nomination, coupled with the attack on reproductive rights, may very well be the best thing to happen to the Democrats, and President Barack Obama this year.
