We Do Need Bees

I am sharing this Petition because I like bees, and I think they are necessary to our ecosystem and/or food chain and therefore worth protecting.  This message about steps we can take to help bees came to my inbox via Credo Action, because apparently, we need to beg the EPA to do right by us and not the manufacturers of pesticides.

CREDO action
Tell the EPA: Immediately suspend the pesticide that’s killing honey bees

The petition reads:
Bee die offs are a serious emergency. Please follow the European Union and immediately suspend the use of the dangerous neonicotinoid pesticides that are killing bees.

Ingenious Way to Help Kids in Danger

The folks at Upworthy are always sharing wonderful content from all over the world. This video highlighting one way to offer a secret message of help to abused children really strikes me, especially after the freeing of the three women from captivity and terror in Cleveland, Ohio that is in recent news.

I think we need these in the States, don’t you?

Please share if you are able, you never know who you may help, or inspire.

GM Wheat May Damage Human Genes

Found this article while surfing the websites focused on natural foods and the impact that our diet has on the human body.  This concerns genetically modified wheat in the Australian food industries.  GM wheat could permanently damage human genetics by silencing hundreds of genes throughout the body.

I really, really, really hope that this junk doesn’t pop up in the children’s morning poptarts.

Save The Postal Service, Save American Jobs

The United States Postal Service is the finest, most reliable postal service in the world  Everyone knows this, and the fact that we can send a letter to any place in the United States to any other place for forty-six cents is frankly amazing.  I appreciate the ease with which I can ship packages all over the country with a minimum of fuss or trouble, and the certainty that my numerous internet purchases will make it to my door safely.  The USPS workers are our friends and neighbors; it is and always will be a large part of the fabric of American life and business.  So why all the fighting over the state of the USPS on the House floor?

It seems some in the Conservative crowd have a vendetta against the post office that we all know and love.  And they have manufactured a crisis designed to destroy the post office.  Check this link out:   Congressman Finally Takes Action To Remove Needless Requirement Bankrupting The Postal Service | ThinkProgress.

Correct me if I am way off base, but aren’t we guaranteed a Postal Service in our Constitution?  And aren’t most retirees unlikely to live seventy five years past retiring, let alone all?  Why was the United States Postal Service saddled with that stupid rule rather than businesses in the private sector?  You can imagine the furor if Fedex or UPS were federally mandated to pre-fund seventy five years of health benefits?  Continue reading

Well, Well, Michele

Apparently, our favorite fact free Congresswoman from Minnesota has been a naughty gal.  Allegations of corruption have been leveled at prominent Tea Party leader, Michele Bachmann, giving rise to a State Senate investigation in Iowa.  Iowa’s ethics rules prohibit lawmakers from being paid for their work on presidential campaigns. That line of inquiry has given rise to questions about whether Bachmann’s campaign broke federal campaign finance laws by failing to disclose an estimated $52,500 in compensation for Sorenson, her highest-profile supporter in Iowa.  Andy Parrish, Bachmann’s former congressional chief of staff and a longtime Minnesota Republican operative, has said that Sorenson was paid for his support of her run at the 2012 Presidency.

But that’s not all for the former Republican presidential nominee! Two other investigations are currently underway, also into the financial aspects of the ill-fated 2012 presidential bid from even farther back.  Congressional ethics investigators are Bachmann-CaseForConvictionexamining whether staffers in Rep. Michele Bachmann’s presidential campaign Continue reading

FAA Inconvenience Leads Action, Unlike Impact To Vulnerable Americans

How’s the sequestration treating you?  Most may ask, ‘What Sequestration?’.  Alot of folks stopped paying attention to this sort of thing, due to fatigue, so it is understandable that they would not know.  It’s a state of broad departmental budget cuts to government programs and services.  We are gifted with this albatross because the last Congress could not pass a budget.  The doomsday scenarios the White House and some Democrats warned against haven’t happened.  Yet.

The country has not imploded yet, nor been invaded by a foreign entity.   Personally, I haven’t been affected at all by sequestration, which I think is indicative of the experience of most Americans, because I am self sufficient, I have no special needs that require federal aid.  Unless you need a service of any kind…..that you depend on to eat, take care of yourself and family, to educate children.  You know, nothing of real importance to the media, or the average Senator and Congressperson.  Like booking a flight home from Washington!

Awareness has grown, since plenty of Americans, particularly business travelers were highly inconvenienced this week, as indicated by this article:  FAA Leads Sequestration Coverage Despite Impact To Vulnerable CommunitiesContinue reading

Stella Tremblay, NH State Representative & Conspiracy Theorist

Just when you think we have hit the bar on ridiculousness, you learn about Stella Tremblay.  Check it out.

New Hampshire state Rep. Stella Tremblay (R-Auburn) believes that Alex Jones’ website Infowars has revealed the truth behind the Boston Marathon bombings.

The New Hampshire Democratic Party on Tuesday highlighted a Facebook message Tremblay left on Glenn Beck’s fan page last Friday. The message claimed the U.S. government secretly carried out the Boston attack and that the suspect who was arrested was merely a patsy. The post linked to an Alex Jones video.

She wrote: “Just as you said would happen. Top Down, Bottom UP. The Boston Marathon was a Black Ops ‘terrorist’ attack. One suspect killed, the other one will be too before they even have a chance to speak. Drones and now ‘terrorist’ attacks by our own Government.” (source) Continue reading

We Flunked The Water Test

Isn’t it funny that in our quest to be healthier we add to the world’s pollution problem?  Our desire for the cleanest fresh water has built up an industry that essentially sells us our own familiar tap water, and at a significant profit.
This video spurred me to purchase a bottle with a water filter built in about three weeks ago. It’s sturdy, easy to take with me where ever I go, and I can refill it for free.   By using that to filter my drinking water, I avoided having to dispose about a hundred empty water bottles, and saved at least $250.
