Bill Clinton was the candidate that I cast my very first vote for at the tender age of 19. I chose Bill Clinton over George Bush, and again four years later when he ran again. Despite controversy and scandals. mountains of obstructionism, he served the American people very well. He was so handsome, so bright, full of energy and promise, so very different from the leaders we were used to. He truly seemed to be one of us, to understand people like me. He lit a fire under the youth vote like never before….I wish I were that young again!
In watching his speech at the Democratic National Convention 2012, I was reminded of how wild I was for President Clinton in my youth. Always charming, he did a great job boosting for President Barack Obama, who has tons of charisma in his own right. Clinton did a great job of addressing many of the issues that have concerning many Americans, such as the level of obstructionism by the current Republican members of Congress, to all these wild non factual accusations flying around, to the inescapable fact that may Republicans have put their goal of removing President Obama ahead of the health of the country.
When he says Democracy doesn’t have to be a blood sport, that was so apropos, I wondered why no one has stated the obvious in this crazy election year. If you haven not had a chance to listen to his speech last night please enjoy the the video of the speech posted on YouTube by CSPAN. Stained dress be damned, I still love President Bill Clinton!
