FCC Communications Commission, Please Get It Done!

Hmmm…Common sense dictates that more open competition is needed for better internet service and quality for Americans comparable to what Europeans already enjoy.  I signed the petition I received in my email from the intrepid folks at Daily Kos.  You might want to consider doing the same.

Cecelia, please join with Daily Kos and Free Press in urging the Federal Communications Commission to follow through on their proposal to make more high-quality wireless spectrum available for public use, which is a key first step on the path towards better and more public Wi-Fi. Click here to sign the petition—we’ll deliver the signatures through official FCC channels.

Global War on Women

You remember the underlying theme of the abortion obsessed GOP this past election cycle?  You know, the same tired anti woman crap that resulted in less Republicans in Congress and the Senate?  Well, you should know, that same sort of anti woman world view affects women adversely, all over the world.

Government policies in many countries across the globe deny women their basic rights.  Women jailed for having the gall to try to control their bodies, for not choosing to give birth.   Women held hostage for the crime of giving birth while poor.  Women and children treated worse than unwanted animals. Say No To Grover

Once again, the country is held hostage, all because of a pledge given to a humorless minion of the super rich.  Which is exactly the reason to not stop applying pressure, even if the election is over!  Not as fun as the “kick Grover Norquist in the dick” petition, but I think its well worth signing!  Had to share with you, Kids!

Cecelia –

Grover Norquist’s iron grip on Republicans in Congress is so strong that they’re afraid to raise taxes on billionaires even one red cent.

But now some Republicans claim they’re coming to their senses about Grover and his anti-tax pledge. If you agree that it’s time to stop protecting tax cuts for the rich, then sign our petition to Boehner, Cantor and the Republicans.

Bill Nye: Creationism Is Not Appropriate For Children

So, some really devout Americans want Creationism taught in American schools as an alternate, and equally viable theory of explaining how the universe formed, the planet developed, how life came to be.  I think that’s just silly, and harmful for a number of reasons, and many scientists also feel that way.  Religion and science always seem to be at odds, don’t they?

This video featuring Bill Nye, deals with the teaching of Creationism to young students.

Happy Belated Birthday, Bill Nye!  We love you for your wonderful intellect and fantastic delivery of the information you share with us!

Presidential Debate: Can You Count The Lies, Big Bird?

Whether you think Romney won last night’s first Presidential debate of Election 2012 on style, or if you are left wondering at the calm demeanor displayed by President Obama, you must admit there were a preponderance of falsehoods uttered on that stage.  Whipsaw Willard was living large last night in Denver, just banging out the best performance of his life, even pushing the moderator around, evoking shades of Newt Gingrich in the primaries.  False statements notwithstanding, Mitt Romney is considered by the media as benefiting from his aggressive behavior at the debate.  This makes me wonder:  Is this truly an election where facts don’t matter? My First President, Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton was the candidate that I cast my very first vote for at the tender age of 19.  I chose Bill Clinton over George Bush, and again four years later when he ran again.  Despite controversy and scandals. mountains of obstructionism, he served the American people very well.  He was so handsome, so bright, full of energy and promise, so very different from the leaders we were used to.  He truly seemed to be one of us, to understand people like me.  He lit a fire under the youth vote like never before….I wish I were that young again! RNC was pretty scary, Like Invasion of the Body Snatchers-Style

Any one get creeped out by the expressions on the faces of the delegates and other attendees? The mixture of anger and glee on their faces at the same time was frightening, and just weird. The joyful way they dived into hating the on President Barack Obama, the government, and any others they see as “against real People, and freedom”.
The language used when talking to reporters, the uncanny way they are never swayed by fact, moved by compassion for others, or ever stray one iota from the party line was chilling.  The very words bold, failure, and built have been kicked to death by misuse.  Continue reading

Mrs. Trump Creates Jobs, Just For The Chinese

Since the recession really deepened, I make an effort to buy American products when I can, and I make it my business to check where the item I am considering is made.  I was browsing QVC today (don’t Judge me!), and I came across this link: Melania Timepieces & Fashion Jewelry — Jewelry—QVC.com.

Remember that fellow that expressed interest in running for President of these United States?  You know, that fellow who has been questioning our current President, Barack Obama’s status as an American citizen, accusing him of failure and deceit at every opportunity (when not feuding with other “celebrities” in the press)?  Continue reading
