Ann Romney, First Lady of the GOP

I was thinking of all the actors on the stage of Decision 2012, including the wives of the presidential and vice presidential nominees in the aftermath of President Obama’s victory.

Ann Romney immediately springs to mind as one of the powerful tools in the Romney/Ryan tool box.  She is attractive, well spoken, aristocratic, by all accounts an excellent mother.  Her battle with Multiple Sclerosis, her dressage therapy, and unwavering support of her husband has made her a media darling.

The Agony and the Ecstasy of President Obama’s New Term

I woke this morning to the good news.  President Obama had one a hard fought, long battle to stay in the White House for four more years.  I cannot stay up late, I have to man my post at work very early, so the news came as a pleasant start to my day.

As someone who believes in good sportsmanship, I refrained from crowing my pleasure, only giving in to one positive tweet:

ceceliamorgan Woke up to my preferred president! Color me optimistic!

After all the ups and downs, dog-whistles, and ridiculousness of the GOP Primary, and horribly divisive Romney campaign filled with fact averse statements, and the most pumped up media coverage of a presidential race to date, America chose to stay the course. Continue reading

Does Monsanto Man Mitt Romney Secretly Eat Organic?

So, do you think Whipsaw Willard, the peanut butter and honey pita lover,  eats the food he supports with his policies?  Well, the missus does; atleast according to this 2002 profile of Ann Romney from the Worcester (Mass.) Telegram & Gazette:

“Mrs. Romney was introduced to several practitioners of holistic medicine, who persuaded her to adopt alternative therapies. She now eats organic foods and very little meat. She practices reflexology and undergoes acupuncture treatments. She credits the lifestyle with turning her health around.” Continue reading

Pat Robertson, Fan Of Saudi Home Correction Methods

Wonder what the campaign of presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, will have to say about the casual way Pat Robertson of the 700 Club advises a fellow with a “rebellious” wife to move to Saudi Arabia, so he can “stand” up to her.  Nah, that doesn’t sound misogynist, racist, or Anti-Islamic at all…..

I’m sure Whipsaw Willard found the minister’s attempt at humor hilarious, but wife beating went out of vogue decades ago.  I’m no political strategist, but, I am pretty sure that is not the way to show women you “love” them, care about what matters to them, and ultimately get their votes come November. Ann Romney To The Rescue

The ‘miracle worker’, Ann Romney, gave the speech of her life at the RNC last month, hoping to win over Republican voters of the female persuasion to Mitt Romney’s cause.  She highlighted their courtship and early years in an attempt to humanize him to the public.  Ann Romney’s fans loved it, her detractors found it forced and not authentic. The Man From Bloomfield Hills

Check out this hilarious mini-doc based on the true story of Mitt’s hardscrabble upbringing in one of the wealthiest towns in the U.S. The “mockumentary” is in the style of other candidate biographies shown at conventions, and is told from the perspective of the people who know Mitt best, including his wife Ann Romney. It’s better than any E True Hollywood Story. Enjoy!

Ann Romney, Miracleworker?

Ann Romney, is a cancer survivor, person struggling with Multiple Sclerosis, Mother of five, grandmother, Olympic horse owner, and wife to Mitt Romney, Republican presidential nominee for 2012, was tapped for another role last night at the Republican National Convention– that of miracle worker.  In a fetching 50′s era inspired, red belted dress, La Romney channeled June Cleaver with all her might in a speech primarily about love.
