Just what are the minimum requirements to be fit to serve in public office? I really have to wonder these days. Aside from the blatantly criminal behavior evidenced by the boys and girls serving up in Albany, NY that is…..those jerks have really brought the bar down low, and it just seems politicians are getting less intelligent. Governors leaving office because of sex scandals, jump immediately to mind. Shouldn’t one have their personal life in order before they dare presume to order our public lives?
Consider the national Congress and Senate shenanigans, during speeches and on the Sunday shows, and you could make a case for the decline of American politics indeed. Some of the most stupid, harebrained, and racist comments are not made by some loopy blogger in an obscure location; they’ve been uttered by those already holding public office, and usually seeking a higher office. I even wonder if politicians should be tested for mental illness. Continue reading →
Can you believe the Citizens United ruling has been over a year ago? Some very industrious gals have been thinking a lot about that. ‘In fact, very deeply, as evidenced by this very interesting video by Dennis Trainor, Jr. profiling the brides of corporations, symbolically marrying their super rich, newly vested with ‘personhood‘ grooms.
Of course, the brides accessorized with plenty of green!
I wonder why the corporate gender is assumed to be male?
Gosh, I love the TedxTalks, as you can tell by how often I share video that interests me from that source. I also find the pervasive way porn has invaded almost every aspect of media and entertainment with its influence really fascinating, and at times, quite disturbing. I’ve always wondered how the younger generations are shaped by the mainstreaming of erotic films, and whether the easy access has hurt their sexual health.
As it turns out, the theory that porn in unlimited amounts has had some affect on the male youth of the nation.
Cablevision/Optimum illegally fired La’kesia Johnson, a Cablevision technician, along with 22 others.
How do I know that? Because she told me so. I often share my better items I get in my inbox here, and this one deserves to be included:
Below is an email from La’kesia Johnson, a Cablevision technician who worked with the Communication Workers of America to create a petition on SignOn.org, the nonprofit site that allows anyone to start their own online petition. If you have concerns or feedback about this petition, click here.
Dear MoveOn member,
I got fired just for speaking my mind about my working conditions. That’s not just wrong, it’s illegal.
I’ve worked as a Cablevision/Optimum technician for more than 6 years. A year ago, my coworkers and I voted to form a union, so we could have a voice on the job. But a year has come and gone, and Cablevision/Optimum management hasn’t negotiated in good faith for a contract. Continue reading →
Life is fast paced and stressful, and the modern woman has a ton of tasks on her daily list between work, friends and family. I wonder what could possibly make women remember to take care of themselves, to overcome their natural inclination to put their health last?
Well, worry no longer, help has arrived! Your Man Reminder from Rethink Breast Cancer is here to help!
Because Breast Cancer screening is so important, make sure you view your Man Reminder instructional video at least twenty times.
Spread the word, share this video to all the gals who may need some expert instruction!
This video is so very powerful. The monologue performed is concise, plain, and easy to understand, but packs the punch that basic truths often do. Please share it freely, as the people who created this, did so with that goal in mind.
In fact, one creators said this on his Youtube channel: Views = Power, so please share, tweet, email and spread this video! Ask your friends and family to do the same and if you have a favorite women’s group or political organization, share it with them too!

Ah, the hot button issue of gay marriage never fails to inspire panic amongst the faithful, mainly ‘straight’ men freaked out by the male/male relationships. Often, it is indeed a case of the Republican lady doth protest too much!! But what about the anti gay ladies? Why are they so against allowing women who love women equal rights of marriage and all the benefits that come with marriage? Here’s a video that points out that maybe they ought to think twice….
Kids, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I have something to tell you. I am nonreligious. Call me atheist, agnostic if you want. I prefer to be labeled as logical. I am not a fan of organized religion, spirituality, or any of that sort of thing. I personally think it is silly. Now, I don’t make public jabs at people who are imbibers of religion and all its mystical trappings. I figure that is their business if they want to be limited and held back by fantasy and outmoded rules. I’m not a bubble buster, I don’t tell others what they should believe. I don’t tell people when they can’t sing, or are too old for miniskirts either. Hey, live and let live as they say.
Where my tolerance ends is when other American’s religious beliefs infringe on my rights and liberties. My reproductive rights, my right to pursue happiness with the partner of my choice are mine to exercise as an American, not to be determined or infringed on by a Rabbi, Imam, Priest or employer fill with religious fervor! And, isn’t it funny, it is always the woman’s rights and liberties that are affected by the rules of holy books and the clergy that represent the myriad institutions of major religious groups? I will live my life my way. I pay my taxes, I am grown. My decisions are my own. Continue reading →
