This Is My Body

This video is so very powerful. The monologue performed is concise, plain, and easy to understand, but packs the punch that basic truths often do. Please share it freely, as the people who created this, did so with that goal in mind.

In fact, one creators said this on his Youtube channel: Views = Power, so please share, tweet, email and spread this video! Ask your friends and family to do the same and if you have a favorite women’s group or political organization, share it with them too!

Lesbians Make Best Wives EVER!!!!

Ah, the hot button issue of gay marriage never fails to inspire panic amongst the faithful, mainly ‘straight’ men freaked out by the male/male relationships.  Often, it is indeed a case of the Republican lady doth protest too much!!  But what about the anti gay ladies?  Why are they so against allowing women who love women equal rights of marriage and all the benefits that come with marriage?  Here’s a video that points out that maybe they ought to think twice….

Logic? Yes, Please!

Kids, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I have something to tell you. I am nonreligious. Call me atheist, agnostic if you want. I prefer to be labeled as logical.  I am not a fan of organized religion, spirituality, or any of that sort of thing. I personally think it is silly. Now, I don’t make public jabs at people who are imbibers of religion and all its mystical trappings. I figure that is their business if they want to be limited and held back by fantasy and outmoded rules.  I’m not a bubble buster, I don’t tell others what they should believe.  I don’t tell people when they can’t sing, or are too old for miniskirts either.  Hey, live and let live as they say.

Where my tolerance ends is when other American’s religious beliefs infringe on my rights and liberties.  My reproductive rights, my right to pursue happiness with the partner of my choice are mine to exercise as an American, not to be determined or infringed on by a Rabbi, Imam, Priest or employer fill with religious fervor!  And, isn’t it funny, it is always the woman’s rights and liberties that are affected by the rules of holy books and the clergy that represent the myriad institutions of major religious groups?  I will live my life my way.  I pay my taxes, I am grown.  My decisions are my own.  Continue reading

Global War on Women

You remember the underlying theme of the abortion obsessed GOP this past election cycle?  You know, the same tired anti woman crap that resulted in less Republicans in Congress and the Senate?  Well, you should know, that same sort of anti woman world view affects women adversely, all over the world.

Government policies in many countries across the globe deny women their basic rights.  Women jailed for having the gall to try to control their bodies, for not choosing to give birth.   Women held hostage for the crime of giving birth while poor.  Women and children treated worse than unwanted animals. 2012 Democrats!

I had to share some of the celebratory emails with you.  The good and ground breaking news from the 2012 election cycle just gets better!  I bet I wasn’t the only one having a DemDance Party at home in the weeks since November 6th!  Enjoy

Cecelia — if you’re reading this email, you were probably pretty darn happy watching this:

Thank You from Nancy Pelosi

I never thought I’d ever get an email from Nancy Pelosi dccc@dccc.org, so this is kind of nice.  Enjoy!

Cecelia –

I wanted to say thank you for your support and enthusiasm.

Republicans had promised to make double-digit gains. Instead, we picked up at least 7 seats and were able to roll back the Tea Party wave.

Next week we will welcome a new Democratic Caucus where — for the first time in Congressional history — the majority will be women and minorities. We expect to have 61 women, 43 African Americans, 27 Hispanics, 10 Asian Americans and 6 LGBT Americans in our Caucus. Continue reading

Ann Romney, First Lady of the GOP

I was thinking of all the actors on the stage of Decision 2012, including the wives of the presidential and vice presidential nominees in the aftermath of President Obama’s victory.

Ann Romney immediately springs to mind as one of the powerful tools in the Romney/Ryan tool box.  She is attractive, well spoken, aristocratic, by all accounts an excellent mother.  Her battle with Multiple Sclerosis, her dressage therapy, and unwavering support of her husband has made her a media darling.
